A. No, any fee you pay, is for the time you use the service while you are alive. We can't take any payment after you have died, as all your cards will be stopped. But your emails will be sent out and your web profile put online (length of time depending on which package you are on)

A. NO! Nobody else can see anything you have written, not your informers or the people you have written to. Your saved emails and web profile ONLY get released when we have run through all the security checks to confirm your death.

A. No this is virtually impossible would require at least 2 of your informers to give incorrect information to us (unless one was a super informer). They are given many warnings against doing this.

A. Well - choose them very carefully! We will email them instructions, but you should speak to your informers and explain what you are doing, and how important this is to you. also get them to save our address webmaster@farawayfish.com to their address/contacts book (this will help make sure your messages get through and are not accidentally put into spam)

A. Yes, you can log into your account and input a new informer any time. They will receive instructions. If you delete/change an informer, they will not know unless you tell them.

A. On the Silver Lining package, your site will stay online for a minimum of 10 years. We say a minimum, because in the last year (year 9), any of your friends or family can pay an extra fee to keep your profile up online. The Free package means your profile will stay online for a minimum of 1 year (again friends or family can keep your profile up for longer, if they pay a fee).

A. Your information is stored on our secure dedicated server. Which sits in a high security data centre based in London UK. Regular backups are also taken of all your stored information.

A. No we will automatically update your files, so they can be seen by people coming to your profile site.

Your messages are saved for as long as your account is live, but if your account runs out we will inform you and also give you time to still access your saved messages.

A. We guarantee your messages will be sent out, and delivered to recipient's mail servers. If we find a message bounces back we will try and resend it. But please make sure all your recipients email addresses are accurate.

A.In the unlikely event that one of your informers wrongly informs us you have died, we try and contact you over a period of 18 days by email and sms. We will also email ALL your informers to validate the information. Just make sure you have a look at your email once every 2 weeks or have your mobile with you (Silver Lining account only)

A. Well, you give us the names/email addresses of up to 3 "trusted informers". We will email them with instructions and secure link with a password. They will inform us if you die. It takes 2 informers to fully trigger your account. However, if you only have 1 informer, this is sufficient to trigger your account.

A. Impossible! Your trusted informers are given clear instructions. They would have to click on the secure link, then input username and password. They have clear warnings at each stage. Plus we need 2 informers to fully trigger an account, unless you only have 1 informer. All by accident!

A. No! Nobody can see your emails or webpage, only you. If you die and all the security checks are passed, then we will send out the email as per your instructions and publish your web profile onto the web.

Anyone will be able to see you published website (unless you lock parts of it with a password)

A. We do several things:

1. Firstly we tell ALL your informers 4 times over a 17 day period. We ask them to confirm your death, or warn you if you are still alive.
2. We contact you 5 times - via your email(s) and also sms (if you have premium package), over a period of 17 days
3. We wait for a 2nd informer to confirm your death, by using their link and password.

A. All you do is simply log into your account with your password and PIN. This will STOP the whole process.

A. When the following security checks have happened:

1. One of your trusted informer has clicked the secure link in their instruction email
2. They have input their username and secure password
3. All your other trusted informers have been emailed asking them to confirm your death.
4. Another informer confirms your death by clicking their link and using their secure password.
5. We have tried to contact you 5 times over 18* days via email and sms*
6. You have not logged on to your account with your password and PIN in the triggering 17 day period.

A. We will archive your emails after sending them out. We will keep your website content for as long as your site stays online as we need to do this to make your site work.

You and your account:

On sign up, you will give you a double layer of security, a password and pin - it's obvious but don’t tell anybody, keep them safe.

If you lose, or forget these details we will email them to your registered emails.

Site security

All your information is kept on our highly secure server, based out of London, UK. We regularly back up information to prevent against any type of technical failure.

If somebody tries to access your secure area, by guessing with wrong password and pin (3 times), we will freeze your account for an hour and inform you.

A. Your trusted informers: The people who tell us of your death

Your trusted informers, will need an email address. You should choose your informers carefully they are your 1st and main level of security. They should be people close to you who you can trust. You can have up to 3 informers - you may wish to consider a professional informer (your solicitor/lawyer)

They are given specific instructions via email. They receive reminder emails every 6 months, containing their secure link and password. We require 2 of your informers to confirm your death, unless you only have 1 informer.

You can change your informers anytime you wish, the new informers will be sent updated instructions.

A. Super-informers - have special privileges

The Silver Lining package allows you to choose up to 3 super-informers if you wish. It only takes 1 super informer to trigger your account. It also shortens the cooling off period to 4 days before we send your emails out and publish your web profile.

We still try and contact you in the 4 days with emails and sms, and also tell you other informers your account has been triggered

Super - informers have to be 100% trustworthy. But this can be useful for quick death notification.

A.Triggering your account - once you've died

Any one of your informers can trigger an account:

The only way to trigger an account is in the section of the site which is identified in the email sent to your informers.

Once they arrive at the triggering page they are asked for your username, their email address and password to verify your death.

As soon as an informer triggers an account a number of things happen:

We try and contact you immediately by email and sms (for Silver Lining package only). We try and contact you 5 times over a period of 17 days

We also contact the other informers up to 3 times by email. We warn them that if you are still alive, they should inform you. But we also ask them to confirm your death by clicking on the link and using their secure password.

It takes 2 informers to confirm you death (unless you only have 1 informer) before your account is fully triggered, but even then we will still wait 17 days and continue to try and contact you.

A. Stopping you're your emails going out and your site going live

You can stop the whole triggering process at any time, by simply logging onto your account with your password and PIN. You will then need to reset your informers (and probably have strong word with them!)

How it works

Sign-up - it's very simple, less than 2 minutes. Give us the names and emails of up to 3 trusted informers, (these are the people who will tell us if you die). We send them instructions, a secure link and a password. You can then log into your secure area, start writing your emails and developing your web profile,using our easy to use template (including photos, songs, videos and blogs). You can write, change and update emails and website as many times as you like! If 2 of your informers confirm you have died, by using their secure link and password. Then we will begin a series of security validation checks with both you and all your informers , to make sure you have, in fact died.
